On the popular TV aftershow, The Talking Dead, AMC confirmed that Fear The Walking Dead is going to get an eighth season. The confirmation comes just after The Walking Dead: World Beyond, another one of The Walking Dead’s spinoff series, ended recently.

Kim Dickens will return to FTWD going forward

For all the criticism that The Walking Dead has received in recent years, it’s hard to deny just how successful the franchise has become. In addition to the main show, The Walking Dead has spawned board games, video games, amusement park rides, and of course spin-offs. Arguably the most successful of all these The Walking Dead offshoots is Fear the Walking Dead, which first started as a prequel before growing to become its own series throughout its seven-season run. Fear the Walking Dead’s Season 7 midseason finale saw Alycia Debnam-Carey’s Alicia Clark declare war on Colman Domingo’s Victor Strand. The conflict should remain central as the second half of season 7 drops on April 17, 2022. However, we don’t think Alicia nor Victor will survive to see the events of Season 8 whenever it premieres. Speaking of, Kim Dickens’ Madison Clark is returning during the latter half of season 7 before joining as a series regular for season 8. Clark was one of the major players of Fear the Walking Dead for the show’s first four seasons. However, the series appeared to have killed off Clark back in season 4. Judging by AMC’s confirmation, it appears that Clark is alive and well and will stick around for at least one more season. Madison Clark is one of the biggest reasons why Fear the Walking Dead became so big in the first place. Now that she’s back, Fear the Walking Dead might see a return to its former form for Season 8. Of course, whether this happens or not remains to be seen. With that said, AMC should already know by now when to cut the proverbial cord. Many agree that The Walking Dead should have ended way before its final season in 2022. It would suck if AMC hadn’t learned its lesson yet and let Fear the Walking Dead continue on its current path with many audiences having mixed feelings about how the show’s quality had tapered off in recent seasons. If Clark’s return for Season 7 and Season 8 isn’t enough to reinvigorate Fear the Walking Dead, it might be time for AMC to put the series to pasture.
