From a relatively obscure game, Among Us became a worldwide sensation, seemingly, overnight. It’s as if everyone who had a PC and a mobile device were playing the game. However, despite Among Us’ popularity, there was one thing sorely missing: a console version. While a Nintendo Switch version of Among Us was later released, PlayStation and Xbox versions are still nowhere to be found. Now, it’s probably only a matter of weeks before Among Us’ console versions release.
Potential Among Us PS4 and PS5 Release Date
It was only in March earlier this 2021 that Among Us’ developers, Innersloth, confirmed that the game will be arriving on the Xbox Series S/X and Xbox One sometime later in the year. Fast forward to a month later and InnerSloth also announced that Among Us was coming to the PS4 and PS5 as well. Not only that but to mark its launch, the PS4 and PS5 version of Among Us will get exclusive Ratchet & Clank content. It’s been a couple of months since both announcements were made. So far, InnerSloth hasn’t come out to confirm an exact release date yet. But, because of the recent database leaks, we now know that Among Us might release on the PS4 and PS5 soon. According to PlayStationSize on Twitter, Among Us was recently uploaded to the PS4 and PS5 database with a release date of August 31st, 2021, attached to it.

Until InnerSloth comes out with an official announcement, we recommend that you take it with a grain of salt. However, placeholders aren’t usually very specific. The fact that it explicitly says August 31st, 2021, suggests that this could be a final release date. If it is, then the Xbox version could launch on the same day as well. It could also launch a few weeks earlier or later.
What’s New in the Among Us Console Edition?
The console versions of Among Us are more than just ports of the uber-popular game. As we’ve already mentioned, PlayStation users will get free Ratchet & Clank content for Among Us. Meanwhile, Xbox users will get Among Us for free at launch via the Xbox Game Pass library. Among Us will also be cross-platform on consoles. This means that you can play with your friends and other strangers from around the globe, on other platforms.
