With that said, an interesting sighting by a hawk-eyed observer might have just confirmed that a new Metal Gear Solid game is in the works.

Is Virtuos working on a Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake?

Throughout the year, there have been multiple reports of Konami outsourcing some of its biggest franchises to other developers. In fact, in a recent article, we talked about how Konami had partnered with several other studios, including for newer installments and/or remakes of Metal Gear, Silent Hill, and Castlevania. Virtuos, in particular, was tapped to work on a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Now, a job listing discovered by Twitter user Faizan Shaikh provides better insight on what could potentially be proof that the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake does indeed exist.

— Faizan Shaikh (@FaizShaikh7681) October 10, 2021 The LinkedIn profile of Zhiyang Li, who works as Virtuos’ lead software engineer, lists his most recent project, an Unannounced AAA Action Adventure game remake. He details how he led a team composed of 12 developers to work on the game engine for the project. What is interesting here is that the description never mentions a game title, which has led many to believe that this could be the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3. Of course, the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake remains unconfirmed. All that we know is that Konami is working on multiple projects at the moment, which the publisher explains is the reason why it did not attend E3 2021. We don’t know for sure if whether or not this includes a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. If Virtuos is indeed working on the remake of one of Kojima’s best games, then hats off to them. Virtuos is one of the most reliable support studios in the industry. A remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 is a good start if it wants to establish itself as a studio that can work on big AAA titles. The timeline of the aforementioned project also lines up with the studio raising $15 million. This could have allowed the studio to afford the additional manpower necessary for such an undertaking. Speaking of Metal Gear rumors, there are still people who believe that Abandoned is a Metal Gear game despite the developer’s insistence that it isn’t.
