Fast forward to today and Black Adam is almost finished with its final week of shooting. The film is now scheduled to premiere sometime in July 2022.
The cutting edge technology behind the Black Adam movie
As the movie revolves around one of the most powerful and enigmatic presences in the entire DC universe, it only makes sense that the director films it using cutting-edge technology. As revealed by the WWE superstar-turned-actor, director Jaume Collet-Serra wasn’t going to settle for anything less than the best technology to film Black Adam. In a recent behind-the-scenes peek on the set of Black Adam, Johnson posted a photo of himself in a striking and powerful pose. However, as much of a spectacle Johnson is, he averted everyone’s eyes to the camera located just behind him. According to him, it’s an advanced robot arm called a BOLT, which is the “fastest in the world”. It comes with a PHANTOM camera that is capable of shooting scenes at 960 frames per second. In comparison, the standard movie framerate is just 24 frames per second. As mentioned, Johnson will take on the mantle as the occasional villain and anti-hero, Black Adam, for the upcoming feature film. The story will reportedly revolve around his origins and will feature an all-star cast playing the role of the Justice Society of America, including Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher; Aldis Hodge as Hawkman; Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone; and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. Black Adam represents a fresh start for the DCEU to kick off a new film franchise. Because of how big of a deal it is, you’d understand why Johnson isn’t shy to hype the film whenever he can. Johnson used the words “very cutting edge, intricate, bad ass, and cool shots” to describe the result of the camera technology used for filming Black Adam. This is to say that Black Adam could be the most technically impressive DCEU film to date. However, we don’t have any clue as to what the movie will look like. It remains to be seen if it’s going to be as good as it sounds. If it’s any consolation, Johnson seems all-in on his newfound love for Black Adam. He refers to him as “the most unstoppable force in the DC Universe or ANY endgame universe”. The latter part is obviously a reference to the MCU, in particular, Avengers: Endgame. While Black Adam’s superior might is debatable, what cannot be denied is how excited fans are to see the film right now. Here’s to hoping that Collet-Serra doesn’t take too long after filming wraps up to release at least a short tease. This way, fans have an idea of what to expect from Black Adam before its July 2022 premiere date.
