Despite Battlefield 2042’s failures as the company’s marquee shooter’s player count dropped to dangerously low levels in late April, Electronic Arts is still looking ahead to the future. As revealed in a PDF presentation ahead of the company’s Q4 2022 earnings call, Electronic Arts have a handful of planned launches for the year. First up is F1 2022 for Q1 with FIFA 2023 and Madden NFL 2023 scheduled for Q2 with the next Need for Speed as well as NHL games coming in Q3 2022. However, the most interesting part is the games listed under Q4, which will run from January through March 2023.

According to the list, EA has at least four games that it hasn’t “publicly disclosed”, namely:

Major IP Partner Title Remake Sports Title

It’s easy to assume that EA is talking about the Dead Space remake, but that game is no secret after EA announced the game last year. Weirdly enough, EA didn’t mention the Dead Space remake at all in the presentation after delaying it to Q4 2022. Does this mean that the Dead Space remake will undergo yet another delay? We’ll have to wait until we’re closer to its current release window to find out. Moving on, it’s highly unlikely that EA is referring to Dragon Age 4 and Mass Effect 5 either with the Major IP listing. Both are in active development and very much publicly disclosed. Our guess is that the Major IP is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2, which will reportedly come out in late 2022 after a rumored reveal in the next few weeks. If this is the case, then the Partner Title could be the other Star Wars shooter that Respawn Entertainment is working on. This leaves us with the Remake and the Sports Title. We know that it’s wishful thinking, but we’re hoping that EA is remaking the first Command and Conquer game. Without a big AAA competitor, EA’s real-time strategy franchise could get a second lease in life with a remake on all modern platforms. Ultimately, the only ones who know EA’s plans are the ones running the show. With EA Play 2022 canceled, we’re at the mercy of when EA decides to reveal its upcoming games. It might happen soon or later, we’ll never know. Speaking of EA, the company finally confirmed that it is cutting ties with FIFA and will rebrand its soccer games to EA Sports FC series starting in 2023.
