Uncharted is right up there alongside The Last of Us and God of War as some of Sony’s most prized possessions. However, earlier this year, Sony decided to surprise everyone when it announced that it was going to port a bundle including both Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy to the PC (and also the PS5). Back then, Sony only said that Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection would launch sometime in 2022. Now, we finally have an official release date for the PS5 version, which confirms an earlier ESRB rating sighting.
When is Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection going to release?
According to a new PlayStation Blog post, the PS5 version of the remastered bundle will release on January 28. To help celebrate the announcement of the release date, Sony released a new trailer that details some of the visual changes that are coming to the PS5 version of the two most recent Uncharted games. It’s amazing seeing these PS4-era Uncharted games looking as great as they do on the PS5. Even though gamers could technically already play both titles on the PS5 right now, it is only possible via backward compatibility. Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection will update both games’ graphics to take better advantage of the PS5’s more powerful hardware. Case in point, both games will now feature three different graphic modes in Fidelity Mode (4K30), Performance Mode (60FPS), and Performance+ Mode (1080p at 120FPS). In addition to the aforementioned visual and performance improvements, Sony also detailed other features that are coming to Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection. Naturally, because the games have been optimized for the PS5, the bundle will support spatial 3D audio, adaptive trigger functions, as well as haptic feedback, and of course, faster loading times. Sony also confirmed that the PS5 version is not a free upgrade. Instead, those who already own A Thief’s End, Lost Legacy, or Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End & Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Digital Bundle can pay $10 to access the digital version of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection. Unfortunately, those who secured their copies of A Thief’s End via PlayStation Plus cannot upgrade their games. Also, neither one of A Thief’s End nor Those Lost Legacy on the PS5 will feature multiplayer. Finally, as a bonus, Sony confirmed that anyone who upgrades to or purchases Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection before February 3 will receive a voucher code for a ticket to see the live-action adaptation of Uncharted starring Tom Holland in theaters. As for Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection on the PC, Sony explained that it would reveal its release date at a later date. In other PlayStation news, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection isn’t the only PlayStation exclusive that’s coming to the PC. Earlier this year, Sony announced that a PC port of God of War is coming on January 14, 2022. In addition to this, the now-infamous Nvidia GeForce Now leak also revealed that PC ports of Ghost of Tsushima, Returnal, and Horizon Forbidden West are coming in 2022 albeit these remain unconfirmed as of the moment.
