— Shawn Levy (@ShawnLevyDirect) November 8, 2022 According to sources, the filmmaker will make the movie a priority after he wraps up production on Marvel’s Deadpool 3, where Ryan Reynolds reprises his role as the titular character and Hugh Jackman is set to make an appearance of some sort as fan favorite Wolverine. That is if he comes to an agreement with Lucasfilm, which fans will hope he does. The Adam Project director Levy is currently handling the post-production on All the Light We Cannot See, a Netflix drama limited series that is based on Anthony Doerr’s book of the same name. He directed and developed this series alongside Steven Knight, one of the Peaky Blinders’ producers. Levy also has a few episodes of Stranger Things’ fifth and final season on his slate through his production company 21 Laps. While the Star Wars franchise enjoyed a great spell on the big screen, its last theatrical release was 2019’s Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. This film concluded the sequel trilogy of the main Star Wars franchise which began after the Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm in 2012. Directed by J. J. Abrams, its cast members include Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Anthony Daniels. They play Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, Ben Solo/Kylo Ren, Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, and C-3PO respectively. Since The Rise of Skywalker, Lucasfilm has focused on expanding the Star Wars galaxy and offering it to audiences via streaming. The strategy has seen great success with its series like The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi appealing greatly to fans. The Star Wars franchise is an epic space opera that began in 1977 with the self-titled film. Following the movie’s success, the franchise expanded to become a worldwide phenomenon that included various films and television series. The franchise, which portrays the adventures of several characters from a fictional galaxy currently has nine film installments and numerous TV series. Apart from Levy’s Star Wars movie, Lucasfilm has confirmed there are many other films in development, although they remain untitled. Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, will direct one of these movies, while Ms. Marvel director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will direct another. Also, Thor: Love and Thunder’s Taika Waititi is rumored to be helming a third film. Meanwhile, plot details, cast, and crew for Levy’s potential Star Wars film remain unknown. However, fans can rest assured that these details will surface as the studio progresses with its preparations. Besides, Levy and Disney are yet to arrive at an agreement anyway and talks are still ongoing on either side. Levy’s Deadpool 3 is scheduled to release on November 8, 2024. If you are a fan of the Star Wars franchise, you can catch up on Andor which is currently streaming on Disney+. Also, the spin-off series Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew will release sometime in 2023 along with the third season of The Mandalorian. Finally, Lucasfilm is set to begin production on The Acolyte. By the way, if you are a fan of Star Wars games, we are almost certain Electronic Arts will release Star Wars Jedi: Survivor by March 2023.
