Just two years ago, Fox decided to cancel and drop Lucifer following its third season. The drama series is about the literal devil coming down to Los Angeles to indulge his own desires, open up his own nightclub, and, for some reason, fight crime as a consultant for the LAPD. Since the initial cancellation, the TV series has been picked up by Netflix. Suffice to say, this has resulted in Lucifer going to some pretty unexpected places. In the fifth season, for example, Lucifer finally introduced the grand architect himself, God, who is played by Dennis Haysbert. The season then ended with Detective Dan Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro) losing his life. Perhaps more importantly, God promoted the very same son who rebelled against him all those years ago (not to mention the current ruler of hell) as the new God. Yes. You heard that right. Lucifer is now God. With the series renewed for a sixth and final season, audiences are excited to see how the dynamics will change now that Lucifer is literally the one above all.
When will Lucifer season 6 premiere?
You can’t exactly blame fans for barely keeping their excitement in for Lucifer season 6. Showrunners know this, which is why they have avoided divulging any info prematurely. However, while we have very few details about season 6 to go on at the moment, it seems like the Lord of Darkness himself heard our secret desires. Lucifer’s actor, Tom Ellis, decided to delight all the show’s fans and recently took to Instagram to post a behind-the-scenes look at the final season of Lucifer. The photo, captioned “Good things are coming”, shows Lucifer Morningstar leaning back on a DeLorean. It comes days after showrunner Joe Henderson hinted that big announcements about Lucifer season 6 would be made soon. Speaking of hints, at Lucifer’s Comic-Con@Home panel Henderson confirmed that season 6 is going to be the last. This is in line with writer Chris Rafferty’s earlier promise. He told the Script magazine that the staff are working hard to ensure that they can give Lucifer a satisfying ending. Of course, exactly when we’ll get a premiere date for Lucifer season 6 is unknown. Here’s to hoping that it comes soon. In addition to Tom Ellis, DB Woodside also started hinting on social media that a premiere date reveal is coming soon.
