The latest installment in one of Ubisoft’s biggest franchises has received an official release date. The game was originally planned to release in February 2021. However, Ubisoft ultimately decided to delay the game due to the effects that the coronavirus pandemic had on the game’s production.

When is the Far Cry 6 Release Date?

Similar to previous Far Cry titles, Far Cry 6 will be an open-world first-person shooter with RPG elements and stealth mechanics. The events of the game will take place on a fictional tropical island known as Yara. The paradise-like location is ruled by a tyrannical dictator named Anton Castillo, which is portrayed by Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito. After being delayed from its original February 2021 release date, Ubisoft has confirmed that Far Cry 6 will release on October 7, 2021. True to their initial promise, Ubisoft showcased gameplay footage of Far Cry 6 for the first time in a recent event. Among the many numerous details revealed about Far Cry 6 was the many tools and weapons that players will have at their disposal. In Far Cry 6, players will fight against the oppressive regime as Dany Rojas. Other important details about Far Cry 6 include being able to hide in plain sight, ride horses, and even command your very own humungous reptilian buddy. What we saw at the recent Ubisoft showcase was probably just a small glimpse of what we’re going to see about Far Cry 6 in the next couple of weeks. In particular, we can expect Far Cry 6 to make an appearance at E3 2021 as part of the Ubisoft Forward showcase on June 12. In addition to Far Cry 6, Ubisoft will likely take this time to show off some of their other games in development as well. This includes Rainbow Six: Parasite, Skull and Bones, as well as the long-rumored third DLC for Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.
